At Psych Testing Center we specialize in psychological evaluations. Our team is staffed exclusively with Psychologists that possess the education training credentials to administer complex evaluations and prepare the report you will need. Before joining Psych Testing Center, each Psychologist is properly vetted and undergoes an extensive screening process, including a review of their background, credentials, expertise, and practice history. You can rest assured that you will receive respect, understanding and unconditional positive regard from our team.
Psychological evaluations are necessary for a variety of reasons, most commonly to learn about ones strengths and weakness, receive academic accommodation, and pre-surgical clearance. Further, a wide variety of mental health challenges can be the reason behind the difficulties that you are experiencing. For example, psychological conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, and bipolar disorder can result in poor concentration and impulsive behaviors. Conditions such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), epilepsy, stroke, multiple sclerosis or dementia also have a significant impact on how you function. These are just a few of the examples of the evaluations we specialize in.
Psychological evaluations involve tests that measure intelligence, achievement, cognitive functioning, and sometimes motor functioning. Although each test offers its own special type of information, the test battery gives a full picture of a person’s functioning. The choice of tests used depends upon the question to be answered. For instance, Learning Disability evaluations require collateral contacts, educational, and medical records. Furthermore, testing usually involves many different things and may include paper-pencil tests, tests of hand-eye coordination and balance, answering questions, and an interview.
What's the process?
Our Practice Manager will schedule an initial call with you to answer questions, review our fee structure, and schedule your testing appointment. Before you come in, your Psychologist will partner with the referral source (attorney, surgeon, etc.) to determine the specific referral or presenting problem.
During your testing appointment, an interview and initial evaluation will take place followed by the administration of the necessary test batteries. Following your appointment, test scores are interpreted by our staff and integrated with your intake and collateral information into a written report along with diagnostic impressions, and finally our recommendations. Depending on your situation and the assessment offered, you may once again meet with your Psychologist so that feedback (when warranted) is revealed and a written copy of your report is presented. The entire process from start to finish averages about 2 weeks.
How long does it take?
Depending on the type of evaluation, testing can last many hours. Whenever possible, testing will be completed in one day, but in some circumstances testing is best completed over multiple days. Breaks are taken as needed. When scheduling your appointment, our Practice Manager will provide an estimated duration of the appointment.
